Mixmax Rules provides powerful automation to your team's workflows. With the support of Salesforce Custom Objects, you can take your custom workflows even further. You can now trigger Rules any time a custom object is created or updated or a certain number of days before/after a custom object date field. This way, you can support more customized workflows.
Prerequisites
In order to create Rule Triggers and Actions using Salesforce Custom Objects, the following will need to be set up prior:
Admins are required to have configured Salesforce Custom Objects & related fields in Admin settings.
Users configuring rules with custom objects must have adequate Salesforce permissions to view the given Custom Object.
Setting up Rule Triggers
When creating Mixmax Rules, you will have two options for Custom Object Rule Triggers:
Custom Object is created or updated
Number of days before/after a Custom Object date field
Once you have selected a trigger, you will be prompted to select a custom object.
Then, you will need to specify a relationship field for that custom object. Currently, we support relationship fields, which consist of Contact, Lead, or Email lookup fields.
This field on the custom object will be the field you want to use to associate your email recipients to your custom object. The field selected here will also tell Mixmax which email address to execute the specified Rule Action on.
At this time, you will only be able to select from objects/field pairs that are configured in the Admin settings.
You will see an error notification if no custom objects are configured. If your workspace does not have any custom objects configured, Workspace Admins will need to configure Custom Objects in Admin Integration Settings. Learn how to configure Salesforce Custom Objects.
Setting up Rule Actions
When creating Mixmax Rules, you will have two options for Rule Actions involving Salesforce Custom Objects:
Create a Custom Object
Update a related Custom Object
Once you have selected either one of the Actions listed above, you will be prompted to select a custom object.
Then, you will need to specify a relationship field for that custom object. This is the field on the custom object you want to use to associate the recipient from the trigger to your custom object. The field selected here will also tell Mixmax which field to populate with the recipient’s email address.
At this time, you will only be able to select from objects/field pairs that are configured in the Admin settings.
