You can personalize stages for an individual recipient in a sequence. Go to your sequence’s Recipients tab, click the three-dot menu at the end of the recipient’s row, and select Personalize recipient. You can do this for recipients who are still queued, active, or paused, as long as you’re their Sender.
You can edit the content and schedule the send date for any automated email stage that hasn’t been sent yet. Changes only affect that specific recipient, so you can make your stages as personal as you want.
If you want to personalize the first stage of your sequence, schedule your sequence to send in the future. This will give you time to modify Stage 1 for each recipient.
You can also customize sequences when you add new recipients from the compose window. First, go to the Sequences menu and pick a sequence. Next, click the pencil icon as shown below:
After clicking the pencil icon, click Edit in the box that appears. You’ll see a preview of all your stages, which you can edit as you like.
The Edit button will only appear if you have a recipient in the To: field.
Click Save when you're done, and you'll be ready to send the message.
If a sequence stage has been personalized and you later update the default sequence content, Mixmax will still send out the personalized content for each stage.
FAQ
Why don’t I see the Personalize recipient option?
The option only appears in a sequence’s Recipients tab, for recipients who are still queued, active, or paused and where you’re listed as the Sender. It doesn’t appear for recipients a teammate is sending to, or for recipients who have exited or finished the sequence. It also isn’t available from the Recipients tab on the main Sequences page.
If personalization isn’t included in your plan, the option is grayed out, and you’ll see a prompt to upgrade.
Can I personalize Manual Email or other task stages?
You can personalize automated email stages, but not task stages. To tailor a Manual Email for a specific recipient, edit the email, including the subject line, in the task before you send it.
If the stages after it are sent as a reply, they'll use the subject line you sent. To learn more, see Tasks in Mixmax and How to thread emails and edit subject lines in Sequences.
