Mixmax’s Inbox Categorization automatically organizes your emails so you can easily find customer replies, meeting invites, and critical updates—without getting lost in noise.
This feature is available on SMB plans and above.
What is Inbox Categorization?
Inbox Categorization is part of Inbox Copilot. It sorts your emails into smart categories, helping you:
Prioritize important messages (like customer replies and meeting invites).
Reduce inbox overload by filtering out marketing blasts and notifications.
Save time by letting Mixmax handle manual triage for you.
Why Use Inbox Categorization?
Stay focused on revenue-driving conversations.
Cut through the noise of marketing emails and notifications.
Save time with an inbox that organizes itself.
Inbox Categorization keeps your inbox sharp so you can focus on what matters most: building relationships and closing deals.
How It Works
Your inbox stays dynamic — not static. Mixmax automatically updates each email’s category as conversations evolve, so you always know what needs your attention.
Emails are automatically categorized into labels.
Inbox behavior adapts as conversations progress
Todo → Awaiting Reply
When you receive a new message that needs a response, Mixmax marks it as Todo.
Once you reply, the email automatically shifts to Awaiting Reply, meaning you’ve done your part and are waiting for the other person to respond.
Awaiting Reply → Todo (if they reply)
When your recipient replies, Mixmax recognizes the new message and moves it back to Todo, signaling that it’s your turn to take action again.
Todo / Awaiting Reply → Done
If the conversation naturally wraps up — for example, both sides stop replying — Mixmax marks the thread as Done.
This keeps your inbox clean and focused on active conversations, while still allowing you to find older threads easily.
Reminders can restart the flow
If you’ve set a manual reminder on an email, it will appear under Reminder until it’s time to follow up.
When the reminder triggers, Mixmax automatically moves that message into Todo so it reappears on your radar.
Noise categories like Marketing are hidden by default, so your inbox stays clean.
You stay in control: Turn off categorization anytime in settings.
