Once your workspace admin turns on MCP server access, MCP settings in your sidebar is where you control exactly what your connected AI (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or any other MCP client) is allowed to do in Mixmax - from just reading your data to sending email or managing tasks on your behalf. Every capability has its own switch, and changes take effect immediately.
Before you start
MCP settings only shows up once the MCP server experiment is available to you in Mixmax Labs. Your admin decides whether that experiment is off, optional (you opt in yourself), or on for everyone in the workspace.
Note: Don't see MCP settings under Mixmax Labs in your sidebar? There are three possible reasons:
1. Your workspace has not received MCP access yet. We are rolling this out in a phased manner.
2. Your admin hasn't turned the MCP server experiment on for the workspace.
3. Your admin has enabled MCP access as optional, and you need to switch it on for yourself. See the Mixmax Labs overview article for how admins control experiments and how to opt in.
Where to find MCP settings
Find the Mixmax Labs section in your sidebar.
Click MCP settings.
Note: Your sidebar options may look different depending on which experiments are enabled for your account.
What your AI can do
The What your AI can do card lists every capability your connected AI client can use. Reads are on by default; every write capability is opt-in. Flip any switch on or off - there's no save button, and an All changes saved confirmation appears at the bottom of the card once your change takes effect.
Read your Mixmax data — always on and can't be turned off. Read-only: your AI can look up things like sequences, meetings, and contacts, but it can never change anything.
Create and edit sequences — lets your AI build, edit, and enroll people in sequences. This includes removing someone from a sequence they're already in, which can't be undone.
Send email on your behalf — lets your AI draft and send real email from your account.
Create and manage tasks — lets your AI add tasks to your list, like a callback reminder.
Create and manage reminders — lets your AI set reminders for you. This includes deleting reminders, which can't be undone.
Want to turn off everything your AI can write at once? Click Turn off all at the top of the card. This doesn't affect Read your Mixmax data, since reading can't be turned off.
