How to automatically enroll recipients into a Sequence using Rules

This article describes how you can add recipients to Sequences automatically using Mixmax Rules.

Updated over a week ago

Sequences are available on the Mixmax Small Business plan and above. Rules are available on the Growth plan and above. Check out our pricing page for more information.

You can use Mixmax Rules to add people to a sequence automatically when a specific condition is met. This is how it works:

Create a new Rule

  • Head over to the Rules section in your dashboard and click New Rule.

  • If you're an admin and would like to build this workflow for your entire team, head over to the Rules page in the Admin section and click New Rule.

New Rule

Set up the Rule

Give your Rule a title first by entering it in the top left corner of the Rule modal window.

Choosing the trigger app

Next, set up the Rule. Each Mixmax Rule has three steps: Trigger, Filter, and Action.

The trigger is what should happen for the Rule to start working. You can choose the trigger app according to your own needs.

Selecting Poll action

The Rule filter is the condition you can apply so that the trigger would cause the action only in some instances but not always. You can add as many conditions as you'd like to set the filter criteria.

Adding a condition

Action is what happens if the Rule is triggered. To add recipients to sequences using Rules, you should always choose Sequence as the Action app and Add them to a sequence as the Sequence action. You will also be able to select a specific sequence where recipients will be added.

Selecting Sequence action

Example: You send out emails with a Yes/No question, asking potential leads if they want to know more about a particular product. You want to add users who answered "Yes" in the Poll to a sequence with follow-up emails dedicated to that product.

To do that, first, choose Poll as the trigger app, then select Someone answers a yes/no question as the Poll action, and add a condition that the answer has to be Yes. Then select Sequence as the Action app, set the Sequence action as Add them to a sequence, and select the sequence where you want to enroll recipients automatically.

When you are done with the Rule settings, click Activate & Close in the bottom right corner. That's all!

Activate and close
