The Mixmax Chrome extension requires access to specific websites to function correctly. By default, when installed, Chrome sets the extension's site access to "On All Sites". This is the recommended setting and ensures all Mixmax features work as expected.
If this setting is changed β for example, to "On Click" or to a custom list of specific sites β certain Mixmax features may stop working, and you may see warning banners such as "Mixmax feature is disabled due to missing permissions".
Here's a table summarizing which settings can access full functionality and the use cases we support:
Setting | Full functionality | Mailto/Tel links | Supported |
On All Sites (default) | Yes | Yes | Yes |
On specific sites | Partial | No | Limited |
On Click | No | No | No |
Recommended setting: Keep the defaults
To ensure Mixmax works as expected, do not change the default site access settings. The extension is designed to operate with access to all sites, and customizing these settings can cause unexpected issues that are not supported.
To verify your settings:
Click the Extensions icon (puzzle piece) in your Chrome toolbar.
Find Mixmax and click the three-dot menu next to it.
Under Site Access, confirm it is set to On All Sites.
If you've changed this setting, simply switch it back to On All Sites and reload any open tabs.
If you want to restrict site access
If you prefer to restrict which sites Mixmax can access, be aware of the following limitations:
Mailto and telephone links will not work. These features require broad site access (all URLs) and cannot function with a restricted site list.
The Mixmax permissions banner may persist. Because the extension cannot detect access to all required URLs, you may continue to see a warning banner in Gmail or Salesforce.
If you still want to restrict access, ensure you include at least https://*.mixmax.com/* in your allowed sites list, in addition to the specific sites where you use the extension. The full list of sites Mixmax operates on is:
Site | Purpose |
Gmail integration | |
Calendar features | |
Core Mixmax functionality (required)
Salesforce integration
Salesforce integration
LinkedIn integration | |
Google Meet integration
Zoom integration |
Even with all of the above sites allowed, the mailto and telephone link features will not work without full site access enabled.
Troubleshooting
I see a "limits reached" warning, but I'm on a paid plan.
This is likely caused by restricted site access. The extension cannot reach the APIs it needs, which causes it to display a limits warning. Restore the default On All Sites setting and reload the page.
I see a "Mixmax feature is disabled due to missing permissions" banner.
This banner appears when the extension detects that it lacks access to all required domains. Add the missing domains to your site access list, or restore the default On All Sites setting.
The extension works in Gmail but not in Salesforce (or vice versa).
Each site must be allowed individually when using the "On specific sites" setting. Granting access to Gmail does not automatically grant access to Salesforce or other sites. Refer to the table above for the full list of required domains.
I have allowed all listed domains, but I still see issues.
Some features, particularly mailto and telephone links, require access beyond the listed domains. The only way to ensure full functionality is to use the default On All Sites setting.
