Templates Overview
If you find yourself typing the same email over and over, templates are a great way to improve your workflow. Whether you’re a sales rep pitching to potential clients or a customer success manager sending updates to customers, templates bring consistency to your emails, increase productivity, and give you insight into whether your emails are effective.

Use Templates for a Whole Email or Just a Sentence
You can use a template for entire emails to significantly streamline your workflow. The fastest way to insert a template is to use the keyboard shortcut: type ;
followed by the name of the template.
You can also use a template for a single sentence, a signature, or anything in between — any time you find yourself typing the same thing over and over, you can create a template.
Template Variables
With template variables, your emails almost write themselves — while still allowing for customization when you need it. Learn how to use template variables.
Template Analytics
With the Small Business plan and above, you have access to detailed analytics for each template.
You can see the number of times you've sent each template as well as the open, click-through, download, and reply rates of the template. This allows you to A/B test and edit your templates to find the outcomes you desire. If the open rate is less than desirable, change the subject line or alter the template text. If the click-through rate is lower than you want, consider adding a call-to-action button (type /cta
).
Note that when your recipient responds to a poll or survey or books a meeting with any calendar enhancement, it counts as a reply.
Share Templates
Users on the Small Business plan and above can also share Mixmax templates with Workspace Group members for a huge productivity boost — and you’ll love having access to your teammates’ best emails, be it for sales, recruiting, or customer support. Learn more about sharing templates.
Add Templates to a Sequence
You can add templates to a Sequence to ensure your email campaigns are consistent — and to make creating those campaigns super efficient. When you add a template to a sequence and send that sequence to 100 recipients, this counts as 100 sends of that template in your template analytics.
To add a template, you can select one from the drop-down menu on the right or you can type a semi-colon and begin typing the name of the template. A list should pop up as in the animation below.
Use Salesforce Fields as Variables in your Templates
If you connect to Salesforce via the Salesforce API, you can use Salesforce fields as variables in your templates. In any template, click {{ }} in the bottom toolbar or type {{
, and a menu with all your Salesforce fields will appear. When you insert the template into a message, we’ll automatically search Salesforce and fill in each variable, if we find a match.
