How to send recipients unique links using variables
Updated over a week ago

Sequences are available on the Mixmax Small Business plan and above. Check out our pricing page for more information.

You can send a sequence so that each recipient has a unique link. You can use this for:

  • Driving different recipients to visit different web pages

  • Sending unique files to each recipient via a link to Dropbox, Box, or Google Drive

You can include a link as clickable text or as a call-to-action button. You'll need to format your URLs differently for each.

Send each recipient a different link as clickable text

1. Add a link column to your CSV. The link should include http://www . Here's an example of what this should look like in your CSV. Note that the column header (on the far right) is named link.

Add recipients with custom links

2. Select the text that will be the link, and click the Create link button at the bottom of the compose window (or use a keyboard shortcut). Type the following into the link box: {{link}} . Note that clicking the variable button in the top bar will not work here - you need to type the name of the column surrounded by the curly brackets.

Insert custom link

Note: If you don't want only some of the recipients to get custom links in their sequence emails, you can personalize stages for selected recipients. Just click Review & Personalize in the bottom right corner of the modal window before activating the recipients and add customized content as needed. For more details, see how to personalize a sequence.

Send each recipient a different link in a call-to-action button

1. Add a link column to your CSV. The link should NOT include http://www . Here's an example of what this should look like in your CSV. Note that the column header (on the far right) is link.

Add recipients with custom links without www

2. Add the call to action button by selecting it from the Enhance menu at the bottom of the email or using the keyboard shortcut /cta . Specify the text you want to appear on your button, and then type {{link}} in the box for the Button URL.
