How to add unique CC/BCC for recipients in Sequences

This article describes how you can add unique CC/BCC email addresses for each recipient of your sequences.

Updated over a week ago

For each recipient in your sequence, you can CC (or BCC) different recipients, for example, if you want to send a message to multiple people from the same company/domain. Just add a column with the title "CC" (or "BCC") β€” no quotes β€” in your CSV. For each recipient (each row), specify the addresses that you want to CC. If you wish to CC multiple addresses, separate them with commas. If some recipients don't have any addresses to CC, just leave that cell blank.

If the CC'd (or BCC'd) recipient opens the email, this open event will be attributed to the primary recipient of the email. The same goes for clicks, downloads, and replies. Be especially careful here if you're BCC-ing your coworkers. When they open the email, it will appear as though the primary recipient opened it.

If you want to give your coworkers visibility into who you're emailing, we suggest creating a Team and syncing your emails to your Team Live Feed. You can also create custom searches in your Insights dashboard to get actionable analytics on your team's sequence use.

CC or BCC the same address for every recipient

Want to CC or BCC the same address for every recipient in your sequence? You can specify a sequence-wide CC and/or BCC address on the Confirm step of your sequence or the Settings tab if your sequence has already been activated.

What happens if you use both?

If your sequence includes both a CC column and a sequence-level CC address, it will use the recipients-level column, not the sequence-level CC.

If one of your recipients has a blank cell in the CC column, it will use the sequence-wide CC address for that recipient.

The same applies to recipient-level and sequence-level BCC addresses: the recipient-level address takes precedence; if it is not present, the sequence-level address is used.
