Sequences are available on the Mixmax Small Business plan and above. Check out our pricing page for more information.
Once you have set up the stages in your Sequence, you will want to modify the settings to ensure that it behaves as you need it to. To configure the Sequence settings, go to the Settings tab in your Sequence.
In this article, you will learn how to:
Configure tracking for emails sent from your sequence
Prevent adding certain recipients to the sequence
Configure how recipients are removed from your sequence
Pause sequence stages on US holidays
Sync events to your CRM
Add an unsubscribe link to your sequence
Configure notifications for your sequence
Add CCs and BCCs to your sequence
Configure tracking for emails sent from your sequence
To manage the tracking settings for emails sent from your sequence, click Tracking on the left, then check the boxes next to the settings you wish to enable.
For email stages (auto and manual) of each sequence, you can decide whether to:
Track opens: track when recipients open your emails.
Track clicks: track when recipients click on links in your email.
Sync to Mixmax: sync your email activity to Mixmax reports and the Live Feed. If this setting is enabled, members in your groups will be able to see your email activity, but they will not be able to view the email itself unless you enable sharing the Email body as well. You must enable this sync option if you want to track and analyze your sequence email activity in reports. To learn more about syncing to Mixmax, check out our article about syncing emails with your Group.
We recommend enabling all these settings on sequences you send to customers.
You can configure default tracking settings for all emails in your personal settings.
Prevent adding certain recipients to the sequence
Click Recipients on the left to configure the settings that prevent users from sequencing the same recipients multiple times.
You can enable the following settings:
Automatically remove recipients who have already received this sequence: prevent sending the same sequence to a recipient more than once.
Automatically remove recipients who are active in another sequence from sender: prevent sending multiple sequences at once to the same recipient.
Automatically remove recipients who are active in a sequence from the following groups: prohibit sequencing recipients who are already in a sequence from your other teammates.
Configure how recipients are removed from your sequence
You can configure when to automatically remove recipients from your sequence based on their activity in the Exit Criteria section of the Settings tab.
The Exit Criteria settings will override the stage-level settings you configure.
Automatically exit recipients when they email the sender, regardless if it's a reply to this sequence: prevent continuing to sequence recipients after they have responded to you, whether the reply was sent via the sequence or not. You can learn more about what counts as a reply in our article on how users are exited from sequences.
Automatically exit recipients when they book a meeting via Mixmax with the sender: stop sending the next Sequence stages to the recipients after they have booked a meeting with you.
This setting only applies to meetings booked through Mixmax calendar links.
It will also work even if you use a Mixmax calendar link that does not belong to the sequence sender (e.g., in a round-robin use case or when you're using a colleague's calendar link). Just make sure you enable this setting if you want to automate the exiting of recipients upon meeting RSVPs.
Also, exit all recipients in the same domain: check this setting to remove other recipients in the same domain as a recipient who booked this meeting. We recommend enabling this setting if you commonly sequence multiple recipients from the same account.
Automatically exit recipients that share the same domain with another recipient who replied to this sequence: remove all recipients with the same domain as the recipient who replies to the sequence.
Out of office detection
You can enable the setting to detect out-of-office replies.
If Mixmax detects an out-of-office email, it will extract the return day of the recipient and reschedule the next automated email stage in the sequence to the return date.
Note: Mixmax will not reschedule the upcoming stage if it cannot detect a return date or if the return date is more than 30 days from the date the out-of-office email was received.
If the recipient’s return date is earlier than the scheduled stage, Mixmax will not reschedule for the upcoming stage.
Pause sequence stages on US holidays
Public holidays in the US are skipped by default. If you don't want your Sequence to pause sending during the holidays, uncheck the box next to Skip US holidays - automatically reschedule all stage actions in a sequence to next available day after holiday under Schedule > Holiday to keep sending email stages and creating tasks on holidays.

Sync events to your CRM
Under CRMs, you can manage the settings that ensure your sequence activities are synced to your CRM, like Salesforce.
Log events: sync all sequence activities to Salesforce. Learn more about configuring Salesforce.
Add new records for emails that don't exist: enable this setting if you want to automatically create new contacts or lead records for new recipients you add to the sequence.
To create Salesforce records, you must provide the recipient's First name and Last Name. Learn more about creating Salesforce records automatically.
Add an unsubscribe link to your sequence
To allow users to unsubscribe from emails in your sequence, you can select to include an unsubscribe link in your sequence emails. This will prevent you from adding unsubscribed recipients into sequences in the future.
Click Unsubscribe on the left to include the unsubscribe link in your sequence emails. This setting can also be configured at the Role level by Workspace admins. To learn more, see how to configure the unsubscribe link on the Workspace level.
Configure notifications for your sequence
To get notified about recipients' activity, such as email opens, clicks, and downloads, automatically, you can enable desktop or Slack notifications settings under Notifications.
Add CCs and BCCs to your sequence
You can add the same CC and BCC to all your sequence emails using the settings in the CC & BCC section.
Simply start typing a name or email address in the CC or BCC field, select the necessary contact from the list of automated suggestions, and this user will be automatically CC'ed or BCC'ed on all sequence emails you send.
If you want to add CCs or BCCs for specific recipients, you can do so using variables when adding recipients. To learn more, see how to add unique CC/BCCs for recipients.
That's all! Your sequence is ready to go out now; just add the recipients.
